Livia Hengel is a travel expert, journalist and content creator based in Rome. 

Livia Hengel is the founder and editor-in-chief of The Italy Edit, a digital travel magazine that curates the best of Italy. She is passionate about responsible tourism, slow travel, cultural heritage and sustainable development.

Her writing and photography have been published in numerous print and digital publications, including Forbes, The Independent, Fodor’s, Time Out, USA Today and Singapore Airlines. She is the author of The HUNT Rome travel guide (Gatehouse, 2016) and has been featured in international press.

Livia was born in Rome and grew up in Peru, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey and the US before returning to Italy in 2010.

She also works in the field of international development as a communications consultant for the UN World Food Programme. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a BA in Philosophy and Foreign Affairs.
